The project area will include the width of the Lindo Channel starting at Manzanita Avenue, moving west to the Highway 99 overpass. The project area consists of approximately 96 annual treatment acres with the initial thinning consisting of approximately 44 acres. The project proposes to provide an average of up to 100 feet of defensible space for approximately 214 parcels that align this portion of the Channel. The City of Chico Parks Division (City) is seeking proposals for professional brush clearing and tree trimming services to address ladder fuels, create shaded fuel breaks, and defensible space within the Lindo Channel open space area between the Manzanita Avenue and the Hwy 99 overpass in Chico CA. Requested services include providing all labor, materials, parts, and equipment necessary to provide brush clearing, tree trimming/elevating, and dead wood removal in the area. This Request for Proposal (RFP) is intended to provide interested contractors with adequate information to prepare and submit proposals for consideration by the City. The goal is to mitigate hazards in this Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) open space area by reducing the fuel load and creating appropriate spacing between trees, shrubs, annual grasses, and structures to reduce the possibility of a ground fire entering tree crowns and structures where it is harder to extinguish and control. Questions and Requests for Information must be submitted by seven (7) calendar days prior Responses to timely questions submitted will be answered within three (3) calendar days of the proposal due date. Depending on the number of questions, the City reserves the right to amend the schedule, as necessary. Contractor provided with its bid for the contract a bid guarantee of no less than 5% of the bid price, or greater if otherwise required in the contract. Contractor has obtained a performance bond in favor of the City, securing fulfillment of all its obligations under the contract, in an amount no less than 100% of the contract price. Contractor has obtained a payment bond, assuring payment as required by law to all persons supplying labor and material in the execution of the work provided for in the contract, in an amount no less than 100% of the contract price. The City reserves the right to contract for selected services relating to this proposal from any contractor, in part or in whole. The City may choose to select multiple contractors to provide all necessary services.
