Renovation of an educational facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 2,425-square-foot educational facility.

The scope of work for this pre-qualification package is for the specific bid package for the Atkins Tower ADA and Fire/Smoke System Upgrades. The procurement process will follow the State Construction process. The project designer is C Design, Inc. Phase 1 Scope: The first phase of this project includes 2,425 sqft of interior renovations at Atkins Library on the ground floor. A portion of the ground floor of the library is being converted to house the archives which are currently located on floors 9 & 10 to prepare for phase 2 work. The anticipated schedule for construction of phase 1 is February 2024 to May 2024. Phase 2 Scope: The second and final phase of this project includes approximately 11,500 sqft of interior renovations required for ADA and Fire/Smoke System upgrades. The existing elevator and portions of the shaft will be removed to expand the footprint and install a larger elevator. Additional renovations for ADA compliance and upgrades to the Fire/Smoke system will take place on floors 1 through 10. This phase also includes restroom renovations on floors 5 through 10. The anticipated schedule for construction of phase 2 is May 2024 to August 2025. The minority participation goal for this project is 25%. Barton Malow Builders invites all small, minority and woman-owned contractors and suppliers to participate in the prequalification process. All prequalified bidders will be required to seek Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) participation. Bidders must be properly licensed under all state laws, regulations, and ordinances governing the respective trades and work to be performed. The General Statutes of the State of North Carolina applicable to license requirements, submission of bids, and award of public contracts shall be observed in the receiving of bids and awarding of contracts for the work. Further information may be required in addition to this pre-qualification package based on a subcontractor's submission. These items may include additional financial statements, proof of applicable licenses, certification status, safety program/policy, additional project experience, and or certificates of insurance. Please note that relevant project experience will be highly weighted for pre-qualification. Payment and Performance Bonds will be waived for Trade Packages under $500,000. The CMR Prequalification Matrix dated 10/4/18 will be used for scoring Part A and B. Prequalification of CMR 1st Tier Subcontractors will be in accordance with the State of North Carolina Prequalification Policy dated November 2014. The prequalification period for phase 1 is being extended to November 10th, 2023, and a General Trades bid package has been added along with a few phase 1 packages being deleted. Phase 2 contractors can also continue to prequalify during this period. There will be another prequalification window for phase 2 prior to the bidding period. This is an invitation for subcontractors to pre-qualify only, not to submit or confirm receipt of bids. Completing this package does not guarantee pre-qualification. The CM and Owner reserve the right to reject any or all pre-qualifications. This project shall include all goals and objectives of the Owner.
