This project consists of removal and replacement of approximately (52) thermal insulated glazing units with failed thermal seals in the 4-story, 34,000 SF Giles Science Building located on the Central campus. No alteration or replacement of existing aluminum window frames is included in this scope; however, removal and replacement of existing exterior caulking/backer at perimeter of ALL window frames and vertical expansion joints is included in the scope. All replaced thermal glazing units shall match existing in terms of dimension, glass thickness, color, and Low-E rating. See attached drawings and specifications for details on the overall scope of work. All Bidders are encouraged to visit the project site to inspect and verify existing conditions relative to this request prior to submitting a bid. Each bidder shall include in their bid a unit price to replace each glass type and size as well as an unspecified allowance in the amount of $10,000.00. This unspecified allowance shall be included in the Bidder's overall bid price tabulation. The following rooms have columns that impede access to replace the window glass. (207, 210, 211, 214, 216, 220, 222, 225, 307, 310, 312, 316, 319, 322, 325, 407, 410, 420, 425, 428. Contractor shall include all cost for necessary selective demo, replacement, and painting of framing and drywall shall be included in the base bid. 2. Contractor shall be responsible for safely removing, storing, and re-installing all existing mini blinds from replacement window locations. 3. There are (2) windows in Rm. 211 that are furred-out and covered with gypboard. Contractor shall remove existing gypboard and framing as necessary to access and replace the (2) window glass units. Contractor to include replacement of framing, gypboard, and paint upon completion. 4. Replacement of vinyl gaskets are included for all glass units scheduled for replacement. 5. All existing horizontal masonry joints shall be added to the rake/remove/replace sealant scope of work.
