The contractor shall provide all items necesssary to refurbish/recondition an electrical transformer at the NIH/RML Campus, Hamilton, MT. 59840 PROJECT DESCRIPTION A. Oil to be provided by contractor will be Sunbelt Solomon mineral oil or equal. B. The project includes reconditioning the transformer on by a credentialed and certified transformer field service and maintenance specialist. C. Work will include electrical support using a local electrical contractor having knowledge on medium voltage systems. Electrical support contractor will have access to the campus providing oversite and escort services. D. Drain existing oil from transformer into contractor supplied oil containment allow to drip for no less than 30 minutes. Dispose of oil following EPA guidelines. E. Provide a 10% flush with new provided mineral oil. Allow drip time of minimum 1/2 hour. F. Drain residual mix into contractor supplied oil containment for disposal per EPA guidelines. Perform visual inspection, confirm integrity of seals, bushings, and bolted connections. Refill unit with new contractor supplied mineral oil. G. Conduct internal inspection for any loose connections, burning or pitting, visible damage to core, coil, bracing, bushing connections, tap changer, etc. Make corrections where possible to remedy any deficient components or connections. Note any concerns with contracting officer. H. Replace disturbed access plate gasket with ss supplied new gasket material. Verify gaskets and seals are working properly and transformer is sealed. I. Top with nitrogen, bringing headspace pressure to +1 psi. Allow to stand overnight and verify pressure at same temperature. J. Perform Oil Sampling / TestingDGA/Oil Analysis - D3612Karl Fischer Moisture Analysis - D1533b Oil Screen K. Perform electrical testing including but not limited to Turns Ratio (TTR) on set tap. Winding Resistance on set tap. Insulation resistance. L. Facilities may be available to perform work inside if needed.
