As of March 4, 2024, an award has been made. The City of Hillsboro ("City") seeks proposals from highly qualified firms experienced in preparing Community Wildfire Protection Plans to assist the City in creating and implementing its own Community Wildfire Protection Plan. The goal of this project is to reduce wildfire risk in the City of Hillsboro. Hillsboro has been included in past natural hazard mitigation planning and community wildfire risk and protection assessments. Hillsboro was integral in Washington County's 2022 Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan revision and was a partner in the creation of the 2007 Washington County Community Wildfire Protection Plan The Regional Disaster Preparedness Organization recently completed a five-county, metropolitan-area wildfire risk assessment. The resulting assessment and plan focused on regional strategies, goals, and objectives but it did not include specific actions Hillsboro should consider in managing its own wildfire risk. Historically, Hillsboro has been assessed to have a low-to-medium risk of wildfire. The risks have changed. Climate change, population growth, and community development influence Hillsboro's greenspaces and interface zones. The City of Hillsboro is seeking a consultant to assist us in creating a Community Wildfire Protection Plan that will enable the community to maximize preparedness specific to its unique wildfire risks.
