Fa Proj Y001-0059-033, Suffolk Co., Median Barrier Replacement, Nys Route 27, Village of Brightwaters & Town of Islip. his project proposes to replace the existing box beam guide rail in the median of NY27 (Sunrise Highway) from Exit 41 (Robert Moses Causeway) to Exit 43 (5th Avenue) in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County. The new median barrier will consist of a concrete barrier with 4 foot high chain link fence installed on top. The existing chain link fence between the Sunrise Highway mainline and the north and south service roads will also be replaced with a six foot high chain link fence. The taller median barrier and chain link fencing on both sides of the highway will deter pedestrians from attempting to cross the highway, potentially resulting in less accidents. Project Status The current status of the project is In Development. The Bid Opening is expected to be in Fall 2023. Construction is expected to begin in Winter 2023/2024. Construction is expected to be completed in Winter 2024/2025.
