New construction of a military facility in Aklavik, Northwest Territories. Completed plans call for the construction of a 92,000-square-foot, two-story above grade military facility; and military facility.
PCL in partnership with Stantec Architecture have been appointed the Design Builder under a Modified Design Build Contract for the project. The project comprises of two distinct phases, the Design Phase, and the Implementation Phase (Construction Phase). The design phase is complete. PCL plans to solicit bids for various scopes of work for the project, to prepare and submit a fixed construction price to client for approval. The intent of the Yellowknife Multi-Purpose Building project is to address the infrastructure requirements for two detachments of the Canadian Armed Forces located in Yellowknife; The Joint Task Force (North) (JTF(N)) Technical Support Detachment and the 1st Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (1CRPG), in order to support each units’ mission to prepare and support domestic operations. The new building be approximately 92,000 sqft of combined office space, classrooms, drill hall, storage/warehousing, washrooms, fitness center, and vehicle maintenance garages with HAZMAT storage under the same roof. The project is to be developed on a 5-hectare site located on Federal Land, near Deh Cho Boulevard and Fiddlers Road adjacent to the Yellowknife Airport. The project has been mandated to achieve a minimum of LEED Silver certification.
