Jasper County CUSD #1 is seeking qualified bids for asbestos abatement work at Newton Elementary School in Newton, Illinois. The work precedes HVAC Upgrades and Incidental Remodeling for the 2024 School Year which isbeing performed under aseparate contract. The Office ofthe Superintendent is located at 1401 Clayton Avenue in Newton, IL(62448). Bidders shall confirm with the District Office the address before submitting Bids. 2. Bid Packages shall be enclosed in separate, sealed envelopes, endorsed. The work includes the removal of acoustical ceiling tile glue from the deck of 20 rooms toallow for the installation of plenums and duct work to accommodate the new HVAC infrastructure. Additional work to be performed over the 2024 Spring Break consists of the asbestos abatement of the Mezzanine Mechanical Room on the south side of the Gymnasium. 4. The Asbestos Abatement Contractor will be under contract with the District, and be paid by same. Not less than the prevailing hourly wage, as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor for Jasper County shall be paid for any part of the work. Drawings and Specifications will be posted on an internet server or can be emailed after the Pre-Bid Meeting at no charge. Bidders shall not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, creed, or national origin. Bonds shall be filed with the School District prior to the successful contractor being issued a Notice to Proceed. 7. The owner reserves the right towaive technicalities or toreject any or all bids. The awarded bid will be accepted under consideration ofthe Jasper County CUSD #1 School Board. Acceptance will be based on the Lowest Responsible Bidder. Lowest Responsible Bidder is defined in Section 00 21 10 ofthe Project Manual. Work shall finish before the date of Substantial Completion specified in the Project Manual.
