The Shiawassee Regional Education Service District (SRESD) is accepting bids for the ongoing maintenance of the Shiawassee Regional Education Service Consortium (SITES) selfprovisioned district-owned fiber optic network. The existing fiber network was constructed primarily in the early-1990's and is not fully documented to the splice level. It consists of approximately 110 miles of fiber servicing the school districts covered by the consortium in Shiawassee County. SRESD is seeking fiber maintenance bids on 44 miles of the existing 110 miles. 99% of the network is aerial. Some buildings have buried fiber from the pole into the building. There are four additional underground areas, totaling less than 2 miles, within the network.
