Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Victoria, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a library; for the construction of a 29,000-square-foot, nine-story above grade library; and 30,000-square-foot, 18-story above grade, three-story below grade, 210-unit multi-residential development.
Construction of two-towers at the site of Greater Victoria Public Librarys Nellie McClung branch on Cedar Hill Road at McKenzie Avenue, with and 210 affordable rental housing units. The District of Saanich propose to replace the Nellie McClung Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) located at 3950 Cedar Hill Road, Saanich, BC. The library is situated on first two floors above 3 levels of underground parking. The buildings are 10 stories and 18 stories. The library will have a floor area of 29,315 square feet. The residential floor area will be 187,024 square feet and includes 210 affordable rental housing units. TIMELINE: Demolition of the old library was completed in March 2026. Consulting engineering information is unreleased. A building permit has been issued by the District of Saanich and construction is expected to be complete by late 2029 early 2030. Trades tenders will be issued by the construction manager. *The projects construction budget is $157,828,613 with the library component budgeted at $31,079,547. *Information regarding subcontractor bidding has not been disclosed to the content management team at this time.
