Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Montgomery, Texas. Completed plans call for the construction of a 207,656-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/neighborhood/moco/news/article/montgomery-high-school-renovations-cost-19351330.php Mar 25, 2024 Renovations for Montgomery High School are expected to cost $26.1 million in construction. The high school is one of four campuses expected to get renovations under the the district's $326 million bond package from 2022, which includes upgrades to a variety of building systems, such as heating and air conditioning, roofing and plumbing. There will also be updates to the technology infrastructure at the school, said Stephanie Wells, communications coordinator for the district. "We are very excited to begin these renovations at Montgomery High School," said Board President Laurie Turner. "These improvements will positively impact the learning environment at the school and allow our teachers and staff to support the needs of our students for years to come. We will continue to focus on transparency and share frequent updates about the progress of this project, consistent with how we've communicated about all projects funded by our 2022 bond." Renovations are expected to finish before the beginning of the 2024-25 school year, Wells said. The renovation work has a targeted completion date before the start of the 2024 school year in August. Other campuses expected to get renovations are Madeley Ranch, Lone Star and Stewart Creek elementary schools, according to the district's website. Lighting upgrades and technology infrastructure updates at those campuses are planned for this summer, with major renovations at those campuses postponed until summer 2025 due to lack of contractor bids, according to a release from the district. In February, officials said the district's Agriculture Science Center and Career and Technology Center off Lone Stare Parkway are expected to cost more than $65 million in construction. In 2023, officials broke ground on the $43.4 million Creekside Elementary School, expected to open for the 2024-25 school year. In December, approved new attendance boundaries ahead of the campus's opening. Shelby Smith, principal of Madeley Ranch Elementary School, was named the new principal for the new elementary school during a special meeting in December. Campus upgrades for Lincoln Elementary, Montgomery Elementary and Montgomery Junior High were also completed before the 2023-24 school year started, officials said. Correction (March 25, 9 a.m.): This article has been updated to include more details about work planned for Madeley Ranch, Lone Star and Stewart Creek elementary schools. _________________________________________ https://communityimpact.com/houston/conroe-montgomery/education/2024/01/31/montgomery-isd-trustees-ok-653m-price-tag-on-cte-ag-center-construction/ Jan 31, 2024 Montgomery ISD's board of trustees approved the guaranteed maximum price of $65.3 million for construction costs on the district's career and technical education, and agricultural science centers on Jan. 23. The overview Trustees unanimously voted to approve maximum construction costs--not including other project costs, MISD Chief Operations Officer Kris Lynn said--of about $46.2 million for the CTE center, $15.8 million for the ag center and $3.3 million in "project alternates," according to Jan. 23 meeting presentation materials. The approved project alternates include: A 16,162-square-foot expansion for the CTE center An added 17,591-square-foot exterior cover expansion for the ag center A canopy for the buildings' welding and construction yard According to Lynn, once completed, the centers will include features such as: A bistro operated during select hours by culinary students and open to the community An engineering and robotics lab An animal show arena with livestock pens An animal science classroom and lab The cost MISD's CTE and ag centers are part of the district's $326.9 million bond approved by voters in 2022, and are expected to cost a combined total of $80 million, as previously reported by Community Impact. The buildings will measure a combined 189,000 square feet, according to a Jan. 24 news release from MISD. On Jan. 23, the board was presented with two choices--Option 1 and Option 2--for the maximum construction costs before the board unanimously selected Option 1. According to meeting presentation materials: Option 1 includes six project alternates and will place the project's construction budget over by about $43,000. Option 2 would have excluded one alternate and placed the district under budget on construction by about $22,000. Leftover funds the district has from other bond projects can go toward the additional construction costs, Lynn said. "The district has many projects going on right now," Lynn said. "Several of those are coming in under budget. We also earn interest on the bond money that is sitting there while we are waiting to pay out on some of these projects." The timeline As previously reported by Community Impact, milestones for the CTE and ag centers projects include: May 2022: MISD voters approve the district's 2022 bond, which includes the CTE and ag centers. March 2023: The centers' site location along Lone Star Parkway--between Buffalo Springs and Plez Morgan Drive--is announced. October 2023: Renderings for the centers debut at a board of trustees meeting. November 2023: Trustees approve a maximum price of $4.27 million for initial stages of work on the centers. July 2025: The centers are expected to be completed. _________________________________________ PKG 2 - New CTE (Approx. 128,039 SF, 2 stories) and associated Site Improvements.
