Project will replace ductile iron water lines that are at an excessive depth due to the ODOT interchange construction and development of the area. The existing main has experienced breaks and staff does not have the resources to repair the line due to its excessive depth (approximately 25 feet). This project is included in the city’s 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 10, 2024, per owner the project is in the design phase. Construction expected February 2025 to April 2025. Current Status - Survey ready to begin and address items below - Potholing for line depths over 15’ - Potholing for material change from PVC to DIP - Feasibility of moving line 20’ North across the north side of the Hospital campus - Identification of ODOT manhole contents along expected work area Design Decisions - Viability of using a liner in existing piping crossing I-35 versus remove and replacing piping. - Coordination with Public Works on the need for WL replacement east of 24th to Flood on Tecumseh (they have a road widening project in this area coming up). - Confirming viability of moving line 20’ North across north side of Hospital campus. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
