The City of Champaign is currently accepting Letters of Interest for Technical Assistance related to traffic signal management. The City intends to use a qualification-based selection process for the procurement of these services (City of Champaign Administrative Policy 2.08). This selection will cover a three-year period coinciding with the City's fiscal years of 2024, 2025 and 2026. The selection will include: o Assisting City Public Works staff with updating the firmware across the City's entire traffic signal system. o Assisting City Public Works Staff with expanding and maintaining communications throughout the City's traffic signal system. The existing system includes fiber and ethernet switches, radios, and server maintenance. o Providing traffic signal operations support to City staff as needed. The selected firm needs to have a firm grasp of signal operations, programming, database management, and troubleshooting of signal operation issues. o Providing on-demand services for various traffic signal programming/troubleshooting should the need arise. This includes, but is not limited to, on-site and/or off-site support for programming controllers; programming video detection; programming GPS pre-emption; troubleshooting traffic signal related problems. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time. The City will not schedule debriefing meetings with firms not selected for interviews or for the three-year selection for traffic engineering services.
