The City of Independence Emergency Management is the agency responsible for the overall operation of the outdoor warning sirens throughout Independence, Kansas. The outdoor warning siren system consists of (17) pole mounted sirens. The activation of the sirens is done via radio communication encoding at the 911 center located at 120 N. 6th Street. Sirens are individually addressed and placed in right-of-way areas to allow for maintenance. City of Independence, through this RFP, is seeking responses from an electrical services company for the outdoor warning siren maintenance and installation when replacement is required. The company shall oversee the annual maintenance of the system, conduct repairs as required, battery maintenance, install new sirens and work with various partners to resolve siren issues as they arise. The outdoor warning sirens are provided in the interest of public safety during severe weather times and therefore are considered a high priority when repairs are required.
