Renovation of a water / sewer project in Syracuse, New York. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
This project will replace the rotary drum thickeners at Meadowbrook Limestone and Brewerton Wastewater Treatment Plants. Rotary drum thickeners are utilized to thicken or increase the percent total solids of the aerobically digester sludge, thereby reducing the volume necessary to be hauled to Metro for further treatment. In addition, odor control equipment will be added at the Meadowbrook Limestone facility to address and minimize local complaints (this technology was recently installed at the Brewerton WPCP rotary drum thickener location under a separate project). The project is include in the Onondaga County's 2025-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of November 12, 2024, information regarding a design team and the contractor selection has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
