Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Mobile, Alabama. Completed plans call for the construction of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and medical facility.
SCOPE OF WORK: The general scope of the work includes but is not limited to The new University of South Alabama New Medical Science Building will be a five-story structure with a mechanical penthouse and a basement providing approximately 295,000sf of new building area on campus. The building will house approximately 54,000sf of classrooms and offices for the medical education program, a 16,500sf anatomy lab suite, 92,000sf of research labs, and 32,000sf of vivarium. The building will occupy the site of two three story classroom buildings along University Blvd, Alpha Hall East and South. Each will be demolished and the site will be prepped prior to this contract. The new building will maintain the existing Alpha quad outdoor space and add a new plaza forecourt to the north. In accordance with Code of Alabama, 39-2-2(a), prequalification is required for this project. As of May 10, 2024, all subcontract trades have been let. Groundbreaking took place December 2023 and construction is anticipated to continue through late 2026.
