Renovation of an educational facility in Richlands, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

*This project is on hold. A new timeline has not been established. The Tazewell County School Board is accepting sealed bids for the replacement of the roof over Richlands Elementary School Gym. All bids must be in writing and must contain an original signature by an authorized officer of the company. he Tazewell County School Board reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to negotiate with any respondent to the RFP, if deemed to be in the best interest of the school division. The Tazewell County School Board is an equal opportunity/ affirmative action employer. Awards shall be made to the qualified and responsible Contractor whose bid is responsive to this solicitation. A responsible Contractor is one whose financial, technical, and other resources indicate an ability to perform the services required by this solicitation. Scope: o Remove existing roofing material and edge metal as necessary. Clean up and dispose of all debris. o Furnish and install two layers of 2" x 6" wood blocking at all perimeters of roof. Install 9,000 s.f. of Elevate 1/2 " Isogard HD roof insulation using 5" polymer roofing fasteners and 3" diameter insulation plates. Furnish and install new tapered insulation panels to divert water to roof drains. o Install 9,800 s.f. of 45 mil Elevate Rubber gard EPDM rubber roofing material using the fully adhered method of installation. New roof material shall cover all perimeter walls, curbs and roof penetrations as needed to provide a watertight system. All detail work will be performed in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. o Furnish and install four new retro-fit roof drains. Fabricate and install 430 ft. of new metal edging. New metal edging will be made from pre-finished 24-gauge steel in color determined by the Maintenance Manager. o Issue Elevate' s Red Shield 15-year labor and material warranty upon completion of project. The roof surface shall be clean, dry and firm. Perform all necessary preparatory work that may be necessary or as required by manufacturer, including elevating the curbs and adjustments of plumbing penetrations. Ensure that the existing roof drains work properly and that no "ponding" will exist when the project is complete. The roofing membrane shall be mechanically fastened at all perimeters, at the base of roof projections, etc. as required by the manufacturer. Provide aluminum termination strips as recommended by the manufacturer. Flashing shall be installed at all roof penetrations, interruptions, intersections, including roof edges with vertical or sloped surfaces, using the longest pieces practicable. Flashing shall extend vertically a minimum of eight inches (8"). All flashing, fascia, and sheet metal shall be properly fastened and sealed to maintain a watertight condition. Note: No more insulation shall be laid at any time than can be protected by roofing membrane in case of sudden changes in the weather. Where insulation joins vertical surfaces, cut the insulation in a neat manner allowing 1/4 " clearance, unless otherwise required by manufacturer's specifications. Apply EPDM roofing at the same time as the insulation is installed. At no time shall the insulation be left unprotected and exposed to the elements. Roof Membrane/Materials: Elevate Rubber gard EPDM rubber roofing is the preferred material to be used on this project. The membrane shall be .045 inches (45 mil) thick Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) compounded elastomer which meets ASTM D3253 standards. Material Storage: Materials shall be stored in their original, tight sealed containers and shall be clearing labeled with manufacturer's name and identifying reference numbers as are appropriate. Materials shall be stored in a neat, safe, and dry area and shall not be placed in a manner that would exceed the designed "allowable live load" capacity of the storage area. Other than the membrane, all materials shall be store where temperatures are between 60- and 80-degrees Fahrenheit. If exposed to lower temperatures the material shall be restored to the stated temperature range prior to installation. Any material that is damaged shall not be used. Warranty: Upon completion of the roofing system installation, a manufacturer's representative shall make a thorough inspection of the installation to determine that the roof system has been installed according to the manufacturer's specifications. Upon approval of the installation the manufacturer shall issue a FIFTEEN (15) YEAR TOTAL SYSTEM WARRANTY TO COVER ALL MATERIALS AND LABOR. THIS WARRANTY SHALL COVER THE ROOFING MEMBRANE, INSULATION, SHEET METAL ITEMS, FASTENERS, AND ALL RELATED COMPONENTS SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACURER.
