Renovation of a library in Libertyville, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.

Bidder assumes responsibility for late delivery of the Bid whether by mail or by any other delivery service. Each complete bid (1 original + 2 copies) must be accompanied by a bid bond, cash, or a certified check payable to the order of the Cook Memorial Public Library District, certified by a responsible bank for an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder, if awarded the Contract, will furnish a satisfactory performance and payment bond, execute a contract for the full scope of work, and proceed with and complete the work within the agreed upon project schedule. Upon failure to do so, the bidder shall forfeit the amount deposited as liquidated damages and no mistakes or errors on the part of the bidder shall excuse the bidder or entitle them to a return of the aforementioned amount. No bid will be considered unless the bidder shall furnish evidence satisfactory to the Library Board of Trustees for the Cook Memorial Public Library District that the bidder has the necessary facilities, abilities, experience, equipment and financial and physical resources available to fulfill the conditions of the Contract and execute the work, should the Contract be awarded to it. Bidders will examine the plans and specifications and also the location in which said work is to be done and judge for themselves all the circumstances and surrounding conditions affecting the cost and nature of the work, and all bids will be presumed to be based on such examination, familiarity and judgment. Project Scope of Work: The following notes by trade are for informational purposes and do not relieve the contractor of responsibility for any other information located in bid documents. 1. All existing conditions and materials whether note as existing to remain or not are to be protected for the duration of construction. Any cost associated with the repair and/or replacement of damage caused by the contractor or other trade for the duration of construction will be sole responsibility of the general contractor. 2. Flooring & Base: a. Existing carpet is to be protected for the duration of construction. Any damage to the existing carpet caused by the enclosed scope of work shall be sole responsibility of the contractor to replace at no cost to the owner. b. All new gypsum board walls or repaired gypsum board walls where VDE is being installed shall also receive new base to match existing adjacent. 3. VDE/Fire Life Safety a. Where new VDE are noted to be installed in existing walls or gypsum ceilings to remain, all work associated with removal of the existing gypsum board and/or wall tile for installation of the new devices and repair and finishing of the existing conditions to remain once the devices are installed shall be included in the contractor's base bid whether noted or not. b. Provide lighting & controls as indicated on the contract drawings. Lighting controls are based on NLite or equal building standard and shall contain an occupancy sensor and full dimming as shown. No lighting substitutions will be allowed. Tie into existing lighting controls as noted. c. Blocking and or additional support required for the installation of new light fixtures, monitors, or any other devices shall be included in the base bid. d. New audio/visual alarms shall match existing/adjacent and sync with the existing fire alarm system. e. If required by local code, all fire/life safety devices shall be run in color coded conduit as dictated by code for each of the specific trades The Board of Library Trustees reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to waive any technicalities and irregularities in the bidding and to hold the bid proposals for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of opening set forth above. The Board of Library Trustees reserves the right to accept the bid that is, in its judgment, the best and most favorable to the interests of the Library and to the public.
