The Village of Shelby desires to have the filter system replaced at the swimming pool facility. The work will include the removal of the existing filter system and installation of a new high-rate sand filter system. The Contractor shall remove existing filter system and associated filter pipe. The pump discharge pipe shall be removed from the pump to the filter face pipe. Face pipe, valves and backwash pipe shall be removed. All materials must be disposed of in compliance with State regulations. The Contractor shall provide and install a new high-rate sand filter system per the attached Swimtime or Engineer approved equal. Install new 4" schedule 80 PVC pipe, valves, face pipe, backwash site glass, pressure gauges and other appurtenances in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Other high-rate sand filter manufacturers may be considered if the other manufacturers filter system meets or exceeds the specifications and warranties of the specified Swimtime filter. All PVC pipe shall be Schedule 80 PVC or CPVC with threaded iron fittings or glued PVC fitting for pipes 3" and smaller and flanged fittings for pipes larger than 3". Flanged fittings shall be used where unions are required in large pipes. Flanges shall be Vanstone Style, Schedule 80 PVC, with ANSI 150-pound standard dimensions, manufacturers Spears or Engineer approved equal. 1. Bolt kits shall be included with flanges. Bolts shall be Type 316 stainless steel. 2. Flange gaskets shall be EPDM. o All butterfly valves shall be positive closing, EPDM seat with phenolic resin hard backing, wafer type butterfly valves with cast iron body and bronze disc, 150 psi shut-off pressure, spring loaded level lock handle for above ground installation. Valves shall be Harvard domestic Model BF8200, Bray Series 30/31 or equal. Valves up to 3" shall be screwed connections and valves 4" or larger shall be mounted between standard 125 lb. companion flanges. Provide and install flowmeter on filter supply pipe from pump. The Flowmeter shall be Model Fv-4 By Flowvis, H2flow Controls.. Provide and install 4" butterfly valve on discharge of the recirculation pump. Verify location with Engineer.
