As of March 5, 2024, the owner has determined a prequalified list of design build companies. SCDOT requests Statement of Qualifications from those interested to serve as the Design-Build Team for the design and construction services for I-85 at I-385 Wall Improvement Project in Greenville County.

CDOT proposes to provide consistency in the wall facing/finish appearance of seven
existing retaining walls along the project corridor of the I-85/I-385 Interchange Project
(recently competed). The subject walls are designated as Walls 10, 12, 16, 21, 26, 27,
and 38 on the as-built plans. Exact locations of the existing walls can be found in the
project information provided. The existing wall types consist of pile-and-panel and soilnail walls that are fronted by half Type-6 concrete barrier. The goal of the Project is to
match the facing/finish appearance, to the maximum extent practical, of the existing MSE
Walls in the corridor, which are comprised of ashlar-stone precast concrete panel finish
with concrete coping on top. The concrete barrier in front of the walls will be replaced as
part of the project.
The scope of work to be undertaken by the Proposer under the design-build contract for
this Project will be further defined in the Request for Proposals (RFP). The successful
Proposer will be responsible for all engineering, design, and construction services. The
Project will be designed in accordance with AASHTO and SCDOT design specifications
and criteria, and constructed in accordance with SCDOT standards and specifications.
The design work will include, but not be limited to:
o Surveys
o Geotechnical exploration and design
o Hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design
o Roadway design
o Retaining Wall design
o Maintenance of Traffic design
o Public/Media/Community Relations and Information
o Utility coordination
o Transportation Management Plan
o As-Built Plans
o Permit preparations, submittals, and approvals including identifying and
providing mitigation as required
