Selection Committee Interviews Week of 01/08/24 Selection Committee Recommendation 01/16/24 First Reading by Village Board 01/23/24 Final Consideration by Village Board 02/06/24 It is the intent of the Village of Itasca ("Village") to enter into an agreement with a professional code consultant ("Consultant") to provide inspectional services and limited plan reviews. Additional services may include Permit Tech services. The selected Consultant will be responsible for completing inspection services and plan reviews daily. It is the intention of the Village to hire one firm to complete these services. The Opportunity The Village of Itaca is in a unique situation with a total daytime population of 15,460, which is larger than the residential population - 9,261. While the Village has limited residential neighborhoods, it has impressive business parks (Hamilton Lakes and Spring Lake) and a 634acre Industrial Park. The significant demand for industrial real estate has caused the vacancy rates to remain under 5% for the past few quarters. In addition, there is study flow business relocations to the Village from other communities. In 2023, from January through November, approximately 1,468 inspections have been completed. Some of these inspectional services are provided by the Village staff and the Itasca Fire District. Typical inspectional services include building, accessibility, mechanical, plumbing, health, and school related. The Consultant does not need to provide electrical inspections. Inspections generally average about 50 per month during the busy construction season - April through September. Plan reviews, including residential, exceed 100 per month, during the busy construction season. All plan reviews for residential accessory structures (e.g. fences, sidewalks, driveways, patios, etc.) and additions are performed by the Village staff. Typical plan reviews include one and twofamily dwellings, industrial, commercial, and multi-family structures. Plan reviews generally average about 50 per month during the busy construction season noted above. Additional Permit Tech services up to 30 hours per week may be sought as needed.
