The project includes the removal and replacement of the existing chain link fence softball backstop with an all-black vinyl large backstop in Braga Park near the intersection of Ellery Road and Daniel Street Newport, RI 02840. We encourage all bidders to read the entire bid package to fully understand the scope of the project and the requirements set forth by the City. Each Bidder must submit, at a minimum, the completed proposal pages; including the acknowledgement of addendum, unit bid prices, questionnaire, corporate information page. Failure to submit all required documentation may result in disqualification of the bid. The removal and disposal of the existing chain link fence backstop, dugouts and side line fences. Note posts within the existing concrete dugout pads shall be cut flush with the concrete and filled hydraulic cement or approved material. The replacement backstop shall match the materials, pipe diameter and general design of backstops located in Freebody Park (Toppa Field) between Freebody Street and Middleton Ave in Newport. The replacement backstop will have the same footprint as the existing Braga Park backstop with the exception of the dugouts which will increase in size and have new 36" ADA entrances from the adjacent sidewalks (see sketch). The center high backstop is made up of three approximately 20' long sections with a total height of 25 feet. It shall be constructed with four large diameter 6-1/2" OD corner posts and 3-1/2" OD line posts. There backstop shall be vertical in design with no overhang. Between the center high backstop and the two dugouts the fence shall be 16' tall and constructed with 3-1/2" OD posts. On the third base line this 16' high fence is approximately 55' long. On the first base line the 16' high fence shall be approximately 54' in length (Gate opening shifting 4' into former dugout). The front of the dugouts on the field shall be ~ 22' long with a depth of ~ 11'. The height of the fence shall be 8' on the field side of the backstop and 7' on the back and sides of the dugout. There shall be no top to the dugouts. The front fence of the backstop shall be constructed with 3-1/2" OD posts. Front top, middle and bottom rail pipe shall be 2 -1/4" OD. The rear and side fence of the backstop shall be constructed with 2-3/4" OD posts and 2 1/4" OD line posts. Top, middle and bottom rail pipe shall be 1-3/4" OD. (See sketch for dugout layout). Each dugout shall have a new 36" wide opening to the adjacent sidewalk. There shall be a second 36" wide opening on the field side of the dugout furthest from home plate The first base side line fence line extending from the backstop into the outfield shall be 4' tall and extend a distance of 33'. The third base side line fence line extending from the backstop into the outfield shall be 4' tall and extend a distance of 44'. The terminal posts shall be 3" OD. The line posts shall be 2 1/2"" OD.
