Renovation of a fire / police facility in Winchester, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
Project Overview: Frederick County is requesting sealed bids from qualified Contractors (Bidder) to provide labor, materials, and equipment for the replacement of the existing fire house garage bay concrete slab floor, measuring approximately 80' x 100'. All inquiries and technical questions or comments related to this solicitation shall be directed to Maintenance Supervisor Tommy Watring, thomas.watring@fcva.us and cc: Purchasing Manager Missi Neal mneal@fcva.us no later than 2:00 p.m. on January 18, 2024. All questions shall be submitted in writing (email is preferred). Telephone inquiries will not be accepted. IFB Contact Information: Tommy Watring, Maintenance Supervisor Maintenance Department Email: thomas.watring@fcva.us Missi Neal, Purchasing Manager Finance Department Email: mneal@fcva.us The Millwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station's existing garage bay floor is cracked, uneven, and does not properly drain. The Contractor shall be responsible for proper disposal of the old concrete, drains, and any other waste materials created during this project. All building permits and inspections needed in Fredrick County are to be included. The garage bay is made up of six (6) sections and one (1) section shall be completed at a time to allow for continued use of the bay by the station personnel. Work shall be completed Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The replacement of the garage bay floor shall include the following: a. Sawing of the existing slab area for mechanical removal and disposal. b. Removal of the existing slab area approximately 80ft x 100ft. c. Installation of expansion materials between the existing apron and new slab at each door opening. d. Provide a new continuous trench drain system located in the center of the floor, located below grade to allow drainage from door opening to drain grate elevation. e. Placement of a #5 rebar mat 12-inches OC/EW over the area approximately 80ft x 100ft. Provide dowels at all construction joints 3/4 " diameter x 20inches located 12" OC. f. Place pour 5000psi 8" thick concrete slab over vapor barrier. Provide concrete testing from Greenway Engineering or equivalent company certified for testing. Fire and Rescue Apparatus shall be stored in the station bay; therefore, concrete must accommodate large, heavy equipment on a regular basis. g. Finish with a protective epoxy nonslip floor coating per the manufacturers recommendation that is suited for use in firehouse apparatus garages. All bids must be sealed and labeled with the Bid Name and Bid Number and include the Offeror's name and address on the outside of the package. It is the responsibility of the Offeror to assure that its bid is delivered to the place designated for receipt of bids and prior to the time set for receipt of bids. No bids received after the time designated for receipt of bids will be considered. All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond from a surety company selected by the Bidder, which is legally authorized to do business in Virginia in the amount of five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid for all bids where the bid price is in an amount of or exceeding $250,000. The successful Bidder, at the time of the execution of the Contract, shall furnish both Performance and Payment Bonds, each in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract Price and the Contract shall not be deemed to have been fully executed until such bonds are provided.
