Diesel Engines and Reduction Gears for El Vista, Star Lake, & Rodair Pump Stations Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check made payable to Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7, Port Arthur, Texas, drawn on a Texas bank in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the highest amount bid if the highest amount bid is $250,000 or less. If the highest amount bid exceeds $250,000, the bid security shall be in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the highest amount bid by either (a) a certified or cashier's check made payable to Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7, Port Arthur, Texas, drawn on a Texas bank or (b) a bid bond issued by a surety authorized to do business under the laws of the state of Texas. The bid security serves as a guaranty that if awarded the contract, the bidder will enter into a contract and execute bonds on the forms provided within ten (10) days after notice of award of contract. Checks of the unsuccessful bidders will be returned when the award is made; that of the successful bidder will be returned when the formal contract and bonds are approved. The successful bidder must furnish performance and payment bonds on the form furnished from a surety company holding a permit from the State of Texas to act as surety. Both the payment and performance bonds will be in the amounts of 100 percent of the total contract price and conform to the requirements of V.T.C.A., Government Code, Chapter 2253. The Drainage District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in the bidding. In case of ambiguity or lack of clearness in stating the price in any bid, the Drainage District reserves the right to consider the most advantageous construction thereof, or to reject the bid.
