Demolition, site work, new construction and addition to a fire / police facility in Roanoke, Virginia. Completed plans call for the addition of a fire / police facility; for the demolition of a fire / police facility; for the construction of a fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
The purpose of this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is to solicit applications from qualified construction general contractors interested in bidding on the upcoming renovation and expansion of the Read Mountain Fire Station and 911 Communications Centre (the "Project"). The Project involves the construction of multiple facilities including a new two-story addition, a partial renovation of the existing facility, and a standalone radio shop building. A communications monopole with an associated equipment shed requiring foundations and connection to the Fire Station and Communications Centre. Have any claims been made against any surety of your company on a bid bond, payment bond, or performance bond The County reserves the right to cancel this RFQ and/or reject any or all applications and waive any informalities or irregularities in any proposal. The new two-story addition to the existing fire station is anticipated to include approximately 5,500 GSF of fire-rescue space and 5,000 GSF of dedicated 911 Emergency Communications space. The structure of the addition will likely consist of a first-floor slab on grade with concrete foundation walls, steel columns, and steel beams supporting a second-floor slab on deck system with bar joists. The second floor will be above grade, and the structure is anticipated to consist of steel columns and beams supporting a roof deck assembly. Interior and exterior walls may be assumed to be light gauge metal framing with exterior walls clad in a brick veneer/metal panel assembly and interior walls finished gypsum wallboard (GWB). Portions of the roof are anticipated to be a membrane-applied system over tapered insulation and sloped to through-wall scuppers. Other portions of the roof are anticipated to be sloped metal panels with gutters and downspouts. The second-floor area containing the public safety answering point (PSAP) is anticipated to utilize a raised floor system. Ceilings throughout the spaces are anticipated to be predominantly acoustical ceiling tile and grid or exposed. Exterior windows and doors are anticipated to be aluminum storefronts and interior doors and windows will be hollow metal frames. The facility will be fully heated, cooled, and sprinklered. A backup generator will be required to serve the 911 communications center. Preparation for this construction will likely require excavation of the entire building footprint as the first floor will likely be mostly below grade. This addition will also incorporate additional parking enclosed by site walls and security fencing as well as physical barriers such as bollards, planters, and trees.
