The University of California San Diego ("UC San Diego" or "University") and the offices of Facilities Management ("FM") requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications ("RFQ") for selecting As-Needed Executive Architects for Various Minor Capital Renovation and Tenant Improvement projects. Under the direction of the Facilities Management Project Management group, the Executive Architect will assist on an as-needed basis, with pre-design, existing building system investigation, programming, space planning, design, construction documents and, bid and construction administration phase services for the design and construction of select renovation and alteration projects. Work for this scope primarily will be located on the UC San Diego campus and occasionally off-campus UC San Diego properties within non-HCAI (Health Care Access and Information) spaces. Projects will be under the jurisdiction of the Campus Building Official and Campus Fire Marshal. The University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs), subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The selected consultant shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each candidate firm may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
