As of November 22, 2024, the construction manager is in the process of reviewing bids to be awarded. Construction is expected to start December 2024 of January 2025. The needs of the Animal Services department have outgrown the current facilities capacity to provide healthy and sustainable living conditions for the animals being housed for adoption. The transition to a no-kill shelter created additional challenges with having the needed isolation and treatment areas for longer term care without expanding the current facility. The 30 plus year old facility was not designed to address the new mission and due to site limitations, growth at the current location is very challenging. Marion County has procured a new site that has the ability to construct new modern structures designed to meet the needs of the animals and staff, while providing better conditions to promote adoption and quality of life. The previous solicitation is listed below for reference. Scorpio is inviting you to submit Sitework Bids for the Marion County Animal Services located in Ocala, FL. The project consists of a new 29,000 SF Main Building with four separate, 4,750 SF Each, Kennels. The site development is 20 acres. Scope of Work: Sitework, Fencing, Landscaping. All Proposals are to include the complete cost of labor, materials, shipping, tac, equipment, and customary inclusions, to provide a complete scope of work for your trade. Proposals will be reviewed by Marion County and Scorpio. Sealed bids will be accepted until the date and time indicated below. Two (2) complete copies of your proposal must be submitted in a SINGLE envelope to Procurement Services. On the outside of the envelope, the name of the vendor, the title of the project, and the project number must be prominently marked. Your proposal and contract shall be with Scorpio. Any conflicts, ambiguities, errors, omissions, or inconsistencies with the invitation documents must be brought up to our attention immediately.
