The project involves removing and replacing the existing bar screen and grit classifier at the City's wastewater treatment plant. The new screen will be a perforated plate screen that will capture and remove significantly more extraneous material from the waste stream than is now the case. The grit classifier will be replaced in kind, the existing grit classifier is worn out. There are three additive alternate bids which may or may not be awarded. One is for replacement of the fiberglass handrail with aluminum handrail. Two is replacement of the fiberglass grating with new fiberglass grating. Three is modification or replacement of the existing manual bar screen such that its bar spacing is 1/2 ". It is the intent of the Contract Documents to provide the requirements and specifications for the construction associated with the City of Groves, Texas, Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project - Replace Mechanical Bar Screen and Grit Classifier The project involves removing and replacing the existing bar screen and grit classifier at the City's wastewater treatment plan Bid Security, only in the form of: 1) a certified or cashier's check drawn on a Texas bank and made payable to the City of Groves; or 2) a bond executed by a surety company authorized to do business in Texas, in the amount of not less than five (5%) percent of the total bid, must accompany each bid at the time it is submitted. Bids must be submitted on the form shown in the Contract Documents. A Contractor Qualification Statement must also accompany each bid. Bids may be held by the City of Groves for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the bidder's qualifications prior to the contract award. Upon award, the successful bidder will be required to furnish payment bond and a performance bond if the bid is over $100,000. Required Bid security in the form of Bid Bond or Cashier's Check in the amount of 5% of the total bid amount; Owner's requirements as to performance and payment bonds and insurance. The right is reserved by the City of Groves, as its interest may require, to accept or reject any or all bids, and to waive any informality in the bids received.
