Renovation of an educational facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Elevator Controls Modernization for Amigos & Longfellow School - General DCAMM Category: ELEVATORS Estimated Cost $180,000.00 MBE (10%) Scope of Work - 1. The successful contractor shall be DCAMM Certified as an Elevator Constructor. 2. Apply for, pay for, and obtain all required permits. 3. Survey the two existing school elevator installations and submit two separate sets of submittals detailing proposed equipment, wiring, components, etc. 4. ALL replacement equipment shall meet current codes and industry standards. 5. If existing elevator drawings are present in the machine room, vendor may copy on site at main office, and return original copies back to elevator machine room. 6. For each school, provide new PLC based controller, new traveling cable, all new hoistway wiring, new firemen's control, new battery operated emergency power lowering, and new floor level control. 7. New controller shall be non-proprietary, shall not require any service tool to interface or adjust elevator control settings. The new Controller shall incorporate a Touch Screen with status, operating parameters and event log. The controller shall include soft start, loss of phase detection, and Reverse Phase Protection. Controller shall incorporate toggle or push buttons to allow Inspection down, Inspection up, test mode, disable hall buttons and automatic Operation. This request is based on Alpha Elevator Controls Model: Lykos Hydraulic Controller, or as equal systems from Elevator Controls Inc., Motion Control Engineering, or Virginia Controls. 8. Provide a new traveling cable with a minimum of ten (10) percent spare capacity. 9. Provide all new hoistway wiring. 10. Provide new car top controls with prewired inspection station. 11. Provide a new landing control system that provides 1MM accuracy. 12. Provide Battery Powered Emergency Return System, to return elevator to lowest level in event of a power failure. 13. Provide Firemen's Emergency Service Operation. 14. Review existing machine rooms. The goal is to utilize machine room as is to greatest extent possible. Advise any changes required to allow for new controls, etc. 15. This contractor shall seal all penetrations as required to remove existing and install new components in existing machine room and elevator shaft. 16. Schedule and provide all state and local inspections required to return elevators back to public use. Cambridge Public School staff will provide fire alarm service representative for pre-test and final test. 17. Schedule: Assume award on or about February 19, 2024. Complete submittals within 4 weeks after notice to proceed. Intent is to provide sufficient lead time for selected contractor to submit, receive approval, fab and deliver needed materials for a summer 2024 install. 18. Construction schedule: Summer 2024.Tentatively start July 1, and complete on or before August 15, 2024. Elevator must be back in service for start of scheduled school year in September 2024. 19. Submit a schedule of values for Owner review within three weeks of award. Schedule of values shall be broken down with Labor and Material cost by each line item of equipment replacement shown above. Submit monthly invoices on or about 25th of each month. Utilize AIA billing format. Payment for offsite stored material will require proof of insurance, bill of sale, material marked: Property of Cambridge Public Schools, and opportunity for owner to review stored material. 20. Provide owner's school staff with manufacturers recommended maintenance, cleaning and testing. 21. The school department will provide pdf copies of Amigos School drawings dated 6-3-1982 and Longfellow School renovation drawings dated 8-18-1978 to the successful bidder.
