The District of Squamish is accepting quotes for their 2024 water infrastructure upgrade program. The work is defined in detail in the engineering drawings/specifications which can be found in the documents module on the Bids and Tenders project page, with a summary of each subproject described below. Thunderbird PRV Install a new water pressure relieve valve (PRV) unit with a new non-confined space underground kiosk, SCADA infrastructure, and all new electrical/mechanical components. The PRV location is in on a residential street directly in front of a private residence (40440 Thunderbird) so there will need to be some extra thought given to constructability and public relations. The PRV is to be constructed entirely on DOS property, without encroaching onto private property. This will require careful discussions with the homeowner and potentially using shoring plates to install the kiosk without crossing the property line. Mamquam East Upgrade Upsize the existing 6" main to a 12" heading east from the intersection at Paco Road to the end of Mamquam Road. The chosen alignment will require hanging the water main over the Mashiter Creek bridge crossing and installation of a new water sampling station. Tantalus Bottleneck Address existing bottleneck in the Tantalus Watermain where the 12" reduces to a 8" for 200m. Upgrade this section of main to 12" and install new valving as shown on project drawings. Government/Axen Road Upgrade Upsize existing 6" main to a 10" along Government Road heading North from Depot until Axen Road and Axen Road from Government to Faith.
