The Town of Stratford (Town) on behalf of its Public Works Department (PW) is seeking competitive bids from qualified contractors, to provide labor, materials, tools, equipment, and all else necessary, to furnish and install estimated (100) pour-in-place rubber tree well systems along sidewalks per the following specifications. The majority of tree well systems are required to be installed along Barnum Avenue (88+/-) and remainder to be installed along Main Street, including other selected streets. The Town will be responsible for removal and proper disposal of existing metal grates, prior to the work. Response will be in the form of an addendum that will be posted approximately Thursday 1st February at the close of business to the Purchasing Department website SCOPE OF WORK Proposed price shall include all labor, tools, equipment, materials, mobilization, plant, staging and delivery, including removal and proper disposal of all surplus items and material where not already performed by the Town. The Town will remove and dispose of existing metal grates, prior to commencement of the work. There are approximately (88) tree wells situated along Barnum Avenue with remaining (12+/-) located along Main Street and other locations. Most existing tree wells have a steel edge restraint; some of the edges may need to be repaired or replaced due to damage. Dimensions: 72' x 48' (24 sq/ft) Quantity: 100 (2,400 sq/ft) Color: Brown SPECIFICATIONS Manufacturer: Rubberway, Inc. (or Owner approved equal meeting said specifications) Installation shall be performed by a certified manufacturer installer. Engineered specifications for all proposed alternative equipment and material shall be submitted for approval by Town. Refer to appended Section 32-12-43 and Drawing Sheet No. 25A (04/22/2018) for installation detail. SCHEDULE The project shall be completed in the spring when conditions are favorable for the work to be performed. SCOPE OF WORK / SITE INSPECTIONS The bidder declares that the scope of the work has been thoroughly reviewed and any questions resolved (see above for name and number of individual to contact for questions). If applicable, the bidder further declares that the site has been inspected as called for in the specifications (q.v.).
