Each bid must contain the full name or names of the party or parties making the same, with an affidavit as to interested parties, and in the case of a corporation not chartered in Ohio, with a proper certificate that such corporation is authorized to do business in Ohio, and be accompanied by a bond, or a certified or cashiers check on a solvent bank, made payable to the order of the CITY OF SHAKER HEIGHTS in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid for year one (2024) The scope of work in this contract is for the furnishing of all labor, materials, tools and appurtenances for the removal and replacement of four inch (4") thick concrete sidewalk, two and one half inch thick (2-1/2") sandstone sidewalk, six inch (6") thick concrete aprons on residential properties and eight inch (8") thick concrete sidewalk and driveway aprons (with wire mesh) on commercial properties including apartment dwellings. The contractor is responsible for supplying new sandstone materials. The project includes, but is not limited to, the following items: 1. Removal and disposal of existing concrete/sandstone sidewalk or concrete driveway apron. Homeowner has the option to keep sandstone. ALL sandstone not claimed by the owner is to be returned to the Public Works Service Center. 2. Prepare the sidewalk or driveway bed for installation of same. 3. Install new concrete/sandstone sidewalk or driveway apron. 4. Grade and seed the disturbed areas within seven (7) days. Time of Completion: 140 Calendar Days from Notice to Proceed The City conducts routine sidewalk inspections on a five-year cycle throughout the City. Door-to-Door inspections will be performed in 2024 in the eastern section of the Mercer Neighborhood (965 parcels). In 2025 Door-to-Door inspections will be performed in the Malvern Neighborhood (912 parcels). In 2026 Door-to-Door inspections will be performed in the Boulevard Neighborhood (731 parcels) and Onaway Neighborhood (719 parcels). Repairs will be performed as well as various sidewalk repairs throughout the City which have been reported during the year. The repair of various sidewalks throughout the City will also be done on a monthly or quarterly basis. Bids received after the deadline will be returned unopened. Bids may not be withdrawn at any time. The bids will be publicly opened and read immediately after the deadline for submission.
