Site work and new construction of a fitness / recreation center in Sandusky, Ohio. Design plans call for the construction of a fitness / recreation center; and for site work for a fitness / recreation center.
The City invites qualified architectural design firms to submit qualifications to undertake the design of the new Recreation Center facility, including development of a site plan with six tennis courts and an outdoor water feature. The residents of Sandusky have expressed a strong desire to have a Recreation Center for many years. In 2021, the City and Cedar Point agreed to a deal to raise the admission tax, and part of the new revenue would be dedicated to capital costs associated with building a Recreation Center. The City underwent a several month process of selecting the site for the Recreation Center and worked with Brandstetter and Carroll on a fit plan for the proposed site. The site selection process and recommendation were presented to City Commission on September 10. Five commissioners approved the proposed site and granted approval to move forward with selecting a qualified architectural design firm. Development of a site plan for the property located at 1706 Hayes Ave, to include the development of the Recreation Center, 6 tennis courts, an outdoor water feature, and potential future expansion projects that may include a recreation building, an outdoor walking path, an outside event plaza, public artwork, parking, and safe multimodal access to and from the site. Site plan should include, at a minimum, building layouts, site access, easements, circulation and vehicular access, setback requirements, parking areas, general landscape concept, lighting areas, utility routing & connections. Last Day for Questions Tuesday, February 13, at 4:00 pm All questions shall be submitted in writing via email to Missy Morales prior. The City will give prime consideration to the Architect with significant, current experience in the development, design, renovation and construction of similar buildings and projects. All qualifications shall be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship, age, mental or physical disabilities, veteran/reserve/national guard or any other similarly protected status.
