Addison Street & Clinton Street Sidewalk Improvements Estimated Cost $643,528 SCOPE OF WORK The City of Chelsea is launching an infrastructure project to replace approximately 2,700 linear feet (LF) of damaged sidewalks along Addison Street. The project area on Addison Street includes the portion of Addison Street from Carter Street to Carmel Street (northern side) and from Carter Street to Spruce Street (southern side). It will also include 1,950 linear feet (LF) of damaged sidewalks along Clinton Street. The project area on Clinton Street expands from Broadway to Lisa Lane. The existing sidewalks will be entirely reconstructed, with a new base, paneling and curbing added. Several sidewalks that exist along this extent have been impacted by significant vertical discontinuity due to tree root heaving, so this project will allow for the placing of new concrete sidewalks to provide an even surface for adequate accessibility along the sidewalk. This renovation will be coupled with the addition of new sidewalks along sections that are currently devoid of them, and will incorporate new wheelchair ramps throughout the project area. All work under this contract shall be done in conformance with the Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges dated 2021, the 2017 Construction Standard Details, the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments and the Standard Municipal Traffic Code; and these Special Provisions.
