The DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners are seeking Formal Bids for the DeSoto County Turner Avenue Mid-Block Pedestrian Crosswalk Construction Project as described within the context of this Bid. Question Deadline 02/07/2024 BASE SCOPE: Location: The proposed crosswalk is located on Turner Avenue immediately south of the entrance drive to the South Florida State College. The entrance drive is located approximately 1270 LF north of the intersection of NE Turner Avenue with E. Gibson Street and NE Roan Street. Description: The work includes the adding sidewalk, signage, milling/paving and road striping to construct an ADA compliant mid-block crossing from the existing sidewalk on the east side of Turner Avenue to the existing sidewalk on the south side of the entrance drive to the South Florida State College as depicted in the Construction Plan Set. The crossing will include solar powered Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) sign assemblies with foundations. The work also includes minor embankment and sod installation, maintenance of traffic per FDOT requirements and best management practices for erosion and sediment control. ADDITIONAL SCOPE: Location: There are numerous portions of the existing sidewalk on the east side of Turner Avenue between E. Gibson Street / NE Roan Street and Oakview Drive which require replacement. Description: DeSoto County will clearly mark all sections of concrete to be removed and replaced. The extent of the removal and replacement will be from existing saw cut or expansion joint to existing saw cut or expansion joint. The minimum section of replacement shall be 5' by 6'. This work also includes minor embankment and sod installation and maintenance of traffic per FDOT requirements. ESTIMATE / BUDGET: The Engineer's Estimate for the Base Scope is $79,663.38. The Engineer's Estimate for the Additional Scope is $15,435.00. The Engineer's Estimate for the Base Scope and Additional Scope Combined Total is $95,098.38.
