Site work and paving for a road / highway in Greensboro, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway.
Asphalt pavement has approximately a 20 year life span. The current pavement around the Water Resources building is 17 years old and showing signs of failure, with cracking and settling. The cracks have allowed water to infiltrate the asphalt subbase which consists of high shrink/swell clays. The shrinking/swelling of the subbase is also causing the asphalt to deteriorate even faster and magnifies the cracking. The pavement at the Soabar Street facility is in need of repair and the lay down yard needs to be asphalted to minimize the dust drifting from the facility. As of January 19, 2024, this project is included in the City of Greensboro's FY 2024-2033 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) and funding is allotted for construction in FY 27-28. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
