Reference number : 1800040 Electronically transmitted submission accepted: Yes, via the SEAO, with a document Expected duration of the contract without options (in months): 13 The Abandoned Mining Sites Management Service (SGSMA) is responsible for the maintenance of mining sites which are under the responsibility of the State. The SGSMA must, in particular, ensure that the infrastructures present on these mining sites do not cause risks to the safety of the population and the environment. The SGSMA requires the services of a service provider to carry out cleaning work on the ditches and weirs at the former Normétal mining site, located in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. During the restoration work, six (6) weirs were built between the tailings park and the Méloïses River. The park contains highly acidogenic tailings and high sulfur material has accumulated in the ditches upstream and downstream of the spillways. It has become necessary to clean the ditches in order to restore the flow of water, but above all to prevent contamination of the Méloïses River. The samples of material taken reveal sulfur concentrations higher than Annex 1 of the Regulation on the burial of contaminated soils (RESC). It will therefore be necessary to transport the excavated material to an authorized contaminated soil burial site in the south of the province. The submission must be submitted by a service provider having, in Quebec or in one of the territories covered by the applicable intergovernmental agreements, an establishment where it carries out its activities on a permanent basis, clearly identified in its name and accessible during normal business hours .
