Site work for a water / sewer project in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Scope of Work (SOW) for the Embankment and Remote Dike Improvements, and Spillway Erosion Protection scope of work consists of the following tasks: Consultant will conduct a site visit to observe the general project layout, the condition of the embankments and spillway, and the areas where construction activities may take place. The site visit will also familiarize the Consultant with the project boundary. The County will provide assistance during the site visit. Deliverable: Consultant will submit a brief letter report documenting the Consultant's understanding of the site conditions related to the work. The Fallasburg Dam (Dam) is located on the Flat River approximately two miles upstream of the City of Lowell, Michigan (Exhibit 1). The Dam is owned by Kent County (County), Michigan, and is regulated by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in regard to dam safety, and the Michigan Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) in regard to environmental compliance. The Dam's impoundment diverts Flat River flows to a downstream powerhouse via a power canal. The Dam impounds approximately 216 acres at normal maximum reservoir elevation 673.0 feet NGVD. The Dam's primary civil works include two embankment dams, an remote dike, and a rock-filled timber crib spillway featuring a 100-ft-long ungated overflow section and a 55-ft-long gated section regulated by two 20-ft-wide by 13-ft high tainter (radial) gates.
