Renovation of a transportation facility in Sikeston, Missouri. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.

The City of Sikeston is soliciting bids for labor and materials to refurbish the existing AWOS at the Sikeston Memorial Municipal Airport. This will be replacing the existing Vaisala AW - 10 system. We will still use the existing tower and infrastructure located at 160 Airport Dr. Sikeston, MO. Interested vendors should contact Chris Hart, Airport Manager, at 573-475-3706 to obtain additional information or to schedule a visit to the existing AWOS site. All bids will be subject to the terms and conditions listed below, and any special conditions set forth therein Quotes are being requested for the labor and supplies associated with the refurbishing of the existing Vaisala AW - 10 AWOS of the Sikeston Memorial Municipal Airport located at 160 Airport Dr. Specifications for the work are as follows. A. General Specifications: 1. This item shall consist of a complete "turnkey" installation of an FAAapproved Automated Weather Observing System, AWOS III P/T with Graphic Weather Display and NADIN (National Airspace Data Interchange Network) linking/connection/interface equipment, in accordance with these Special Provisions and the documents listed below. The system shall be installed at the specified location and in accordance with the existing boxes, tower, etc. The term, "turnkey," shall mean the Contractor is responsible for installing the AWOS, including review of the Plans for suitability with proposed equipment, coordination and recommendations on site preparation, processing of paperwork and approvals required, installation, calibration and start-up of AWOS equipment, maintenance training of airport personnel, warranties, spare parts, remote maintenance and repair monitoring, certification, travel, and other items as required for a complete, operational, and FAA-commissioned AWOS. 2. The AWOS Maintenance Contract is the responsibility of the Airport sponsor and/or the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and is not included in this Contract. 3. The AWOS manufacturer shall utilize an established and proven equipment configuration. The above description shall not be construed as being all inclusive or restrictive. All equipment must be installed in compliance with applicable FCC licenses. Any modifications, including labor, materials, and incidental items, are required to accommodate the above specified equipment and no additional compensation will be allowed. This also includes additional control lines and/or any additional equipment or device required. The Contractor shall ascertain that all AWOS components furnished by them (including FAA approved equipment) are compatible in all respects with each other and the remainder of the new/existing system. Any non-compatible components furnished by the Contractor shall be replaced by him at no additional cost to the airport sponsor with a similar unit, approved by the City (different model or different manufacturer) that is compatible with the remainder of the system and existing airport equipment. 4. AWOS MANUALS. Two complete sets of operation, maintenance, and repair manuals shall be provided to the Airport. 5. AWOS INSTALLATION. This work includes all labor, equipment, and material required to install and make operational the AWOS equipment, data acquisition, data broadcasting, and data displays. Included in this work shall be the training of airport personnel herein, providing spare parts, and additional items required to provide a fully operational and FAAcommissioned AWOS for the airport. 6. This work shall be performed by the AWOS manufacturer, or an approved Contractor regularly engaged in work of this type, and shall include furnishing and installing the equipment, calibration, start-up, and certification of equipment. The above descriptions shall not be construed as being all inclusive or restrictive. Sensors shall be installed at the locations and elevations shown in the manufacturer's guidelines, alternative locations recommended by the manufacturer and approved by the City. All connections of the cables to the sensors, data collection, processing unit, and data terminal will be in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. 7. The following output media shall be provided: o Voice output transmitted via VHF equipment. o Telephone dial-up access to voice output. o One Graphic Weather Display with NADIN linking/connection/interface equipment, consisting of data terminal, complete with video display, keyboard and printer, and data acquisition and processing hardware and software, as required, to be in the Terminal Building as directed by the Airport Manager. o Telephone to voice broadcasts. o Computer modem hook-up. o Audio monitor amp/speaker with volume control and on/off switch or radio receiver, for monitoring the AWOS information. 8. In addition to supplying and installing the equipment, the AWOS Contractor/ Manufacturer shall provide the following services and equipment. o Assist the Airport Sponsor, and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to obtain all required licenses, permits, and certificates to FAA commission the AWOS system. o Conduct all required systems performance tests. o Participate in FAA ground check, flight check, and site commissioning of the AWOS. This includes providing and compensating a qualified technician to be on site for the FAA ground and flight check of the AWOS and properly broadcasting the information in accordance with FCC rules and regulations. o Prepare the AWOS for the FAA ground check. Place and keep the AWOS in an operational test mode until it is FAA-certified. If the FAA disapproves either the ground check or flight check, the Contractor/Manufacturer shall further prepare the AWOS to pass the check
