Site Directions: Duck Lake is located approximately 15 miles southwest of Traverse City, near the Village of Interlochen in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. Description: The Grand Traverse County Drain Commissioner is seeking a qualified contractor to serve as a Lake Level Technician through the 2024 calendar year with the option to extend the contract in 2025. The Lake Level/Dam Operator must be available year-round, daylight hours, 7- days per week, and is responsible for maintaining the level of Duck Lake within 0.10' (1 1/4 -inch) from legal elevation of 837.3 to 837.4 feet during summer months. Maintaining the level of Duck Lake involves removal or addition of "stop boards" in the dam, as needed to allow adequate amount of water to flow out of the lake during periods of rain events, runoff, snowmelt, or drought. Once flows subside, it is key to replace the appropriate number of boards in the dam to ensure Duck Lake remains at 837.3'. The dam operation requires timely adjustments to prevent any drop in lake levels below 837.3 or any rises in water level above 837.4'.
