The Hoover Amenities project is located at three distinct locations around the Hoover Reservoir. The fishing pier and boat launch ramp project aspects can be found near the intersection of Sunbury Road and Walnut Street at 7940 S Sunbury Rd, Westerville, OH 43081. The Mudflats Boardwalk is located at the north end of the reservoir and is located at Front St, Galena, OH 43021. At the boat launch ramp and the boardwalk there are existing facilities that will require demolition and removal, the fishing pier is going to be new infrastructure. The boardwalk was originally built in 2005 and consisted of a 1,200 foot long, 6-foot-wide timber boardwalk over the water of the reservoir. Ten years later the boardwalk was assessed because of concerns of ice damage to structural components and was eventually closed to the public in 2021. Understanding that this boardwalk was a popular feature at the reservoir CRPD began planning to repair or replace the structure. CRPD decided to construct a new, wider boardwalk with a similar alignment to the original utilizing steel pipe piles and precast concrete decking. The new deck of the boardwalk will be 11 feet 6 inches wide. This new structure will feature expanded bump outs along the path and a terminus platform wider than the main walk for patrons to gather, fish, or just enjoy the scenery. The construction budget for this Project is currently at $5.6M. Estimates are at 6.2M for all 3 amenities. We may receive a grant for 500k, that will not be known until Spring 2024. The scope of the work shall include complete construction management services, starting with planning confirmation, progressing through design, and extending through completion of construction and occupancy. This Project will be constructed under a Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) delivery method. The selected CMaR will work with the City of Columbus (Owner), Owner's Representative (OR), and the Architect-of-Record (A/R), who are under separate contract with the City (Owner), to develop construction documents which will lead to several Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendments provided by the CMaR after completion of design and competitive bidding by the selected CMaR.
