PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mineral County, with funding from the U.S. EPA will be cleaning-up and remediating the former Babbitt Military Housing Site located to the north of the town of Hawthorne. The site was formerly military housing which was removed. The 324-acre site was transferred to Mineral County in 1998 from the U.S. Army. Investigations of the site determined that there remains older building foundations and piping with asbestos-containing material that need to be removed and properly disposed of.
