he City of Ottawa, hereinafter referred to as the City, is seeking offers from qualified contractors to provide all labour, equipment, and materials for the provision of water and sewer repairs in City, Park sites and Storm Water in accordance with the specifications, terms and conditions of this Request for Standing Offer (RFSO). a) Excavate trenches to inspect and repair broken water main, culvert or sewer structures in Parks, or city sites related to the service of the related group. Work shall include installation, repair and/or replacement of new or existingleaking, broken service lines and water mains, sanitary drains, culverts, and storm drains of various diameters. Contractor shall log all repairs and keep all associated documents and notes in a daily schedule. (b) Other requirements could include ditch or slope grading; water pumping (4- 6"); mechanical excavation of pond sediment up to 400m3; loading, hauling and disposal of material to landfill; sediment and erosion control protection (i.e., straw bales, silt fence install), dewatering, building of sediment but not limited to. (c) Specifications: Repairs and installations shall conform to AWWA Standards and applicable supplements. (d) Minimize Disturbance: Contractor shall make every effort not to damage or disturb existing driveways, sidewalks, pathways, curbs, vegetation, fire hydrants, or other utility lines and service connections. (e) The contractor is also responsible for: (i) All permits and/or licenses required. (ii) Utility locates. (iii) Transport of all materials and all costs to complete work and related fees: i. Work done for Parks shall include all dumping fees. ii. Work done for Storm Water will not include landfill dumping fees. These costs will be covered by the branch. The branch does however, reserve the right to charge dumping fees back to the contractor if deemed in the city's best interest. (iv) Provision and use of all appropriate safety equipment required for excavations. (v) Ensuring staff are aware of the hazards associated with the work being completed and have the appropriate experience, safety equipment and supervision to complete the job. (vi) Knowledge of all MTO Book 7 Temporary Conditions (Traffic Control) Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
