Renovation of a municipal facility in Champaign, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
This project will provide the replacement of the heating ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at the City of Champaign Public Works Facility. This includes systems that serve the vehicle storage area. Bid documents are available online at the City of Champaign website There are two sets of diversity goals in place for this project: (1) A utilization goal of 10% MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) and 5% WBE (Woman Business Enterprise). Utilization goals refer to the percentage of work performed by MBE or WBE subcontractors on the project. (2) A workforce participation goal of 20% MBE and 15% WBE. Workforce participation goals refer to the percentage of minority and female individuals employed on a project. Bidders will be required to show that they have met one or both of the above diversity goals or that they have made, or commit to making, good faith efforts to reach those goals. Sufficiency of good faith efforts may vary depending on the type of contract, the type of products and/or services to be provided, and the duration of the contract. Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable form of Bid Guaranty in an amount equal to at least TEN PERCENT (10%), as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute the contract and all other Contract Documents and file acceptable contract bond and proof of insurance within fourteen (14) days after the award of the contract and prior to commencement of work. The City of Champaign, Illinois, reserves the right to reject any or all bids or portions thereof and to waive any formality or technicality in any bids in the interest of the City. The criteria for selection of the lowest responsible bidder are set forth in Section 12.5-38 of the Champaign Municipal Code, 1985, as amended and the bid documents. To the extent required by law, the contractor shall comply with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, the Veteran's Preference Act, the Employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act, the City's Equal Opportunity in Purchasing Ordinance and the Illinois Human Rights Act.
