Demolition, site work, new construction and renovation of an educational facility in Mankato, Minnesota. Working plans call for the demolition of a 145,000-square-foot educational facility; for the construction of a 113,700-square-foot educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and for the renovation of a 61,300-square-foot educational facility.

As of July 21, 2025, this project is in the schematic design stages. It will require contractor pre-qualifications. A timeline for bidding and starting construction have not been disclosed. Nothing is expected prior to 2027. Pre-Qualification: Yes The Armstrong Hall Replacement project at Minnesota State University, Mankato, will replace the existing Armstrong Hall building. Armstrong Hall has been the academic workhorse of the University since it was constructed in 1964. It currently houses 49 of the campus' 106 classrooms, as well as 11 of its 85 teaching laboratories. Nearly every student pursuing an undergraduate degree since 1964 has attended class in this building. The objective of this project is to replace the outdated and maintenance and repair plagued Armstrong Hall in the most effective, efficient, and innovative way possible. The project will replace Armstrong Hall (145,000 SF) with a new, smaller building (113,700 SF), demolish the existing building and renovate/renew approximately 61,300 SF of existing space across 3 buildings on campus (Memorial Library, Wiecking Center and Morris Hall). The combination of the new building and existing space renewal will work to increase campus-wide classroom utilization and facilitate program efficiencies. The result of the project will be a reduction in campus square footage of approximately 45,000 SF. The project is proposed to be delivered in 3 Phases as funding is secured. The project will be delivered using the CM@R contracting process. Phase 1 includes the following scope of work: • Pre-design space program verification with campus stakeholders. • Schematic Design and Design Development for the entire project (Clinical Science Building (CSB) Buildout, New Building Construction, Renovation and Demolition & Site Restoration). • Construction Documents for CSB Buildout and New Building Construction. • Bidding and Construction Services for CSB Buildout. • Estimated construction cost: $3,216,000. Phase 2 includes the following scope of work: • Construction Documents for Renewal & Renovation and Demolition & Site Restoration. • Bidding and Construction Services for New Building Construction. • Estimated construction cost: $52,196,000. Phase 3 includes the following scope of work: • Bidding and Construction Services for Renewal & Renovation and Demolition & Site Restoration. • Estimated construction cost: $28,745,000.
