The Complexity Factor for this project is 0. The Consultant who is selected for this project and all Subconsultants the Prime Consultant will be using are scheduled to attend an initial meeting on May 2, 2024, at 8:30 AM at the Region One/District One Office in Schaumburg. Phase III engineering services are required to provide construction engineering for subject improvement. Work includes, but is not limited to, reconstruction of the intersection of IL 53 & IL 56 and all four roadway approaches to provide three 12-foot lanes in each direction along IL 56 to increase capacity from the current two 12-foot lane configuration. East of the IL 56 reconstruction limits, resurfacing of IL 56 will be performed from Lloyd Ave. to I-355. The scope on IL 53 includes pavement reconstruction and both raised and striped medians. Additionally, dual left turn lanes and one right turn lane will be constructed at each leg on the IL 56 and IL 53 intersection. The project also includes deck replacement with a single beam replacement of the existing bridge over the East Branch of the DuPage River on IL 56, removal of existing north sidewalk on the bridge, addition of a south sidewalk, the removal of existing pile supported approach slabs and replacement with full width approach slabs. The existing storm sewer and drainage system will be removed and replaced which includes multiple box culverts along the south side of IL 56 from Arboretum Road to IL 53. The project will include pedestrian accommodations along with a proposed pedestrian bridge over the East Branch DuPage River on the north side of IL 56 to serve pedestrians and bicycles access to the adjacent Park District facilities. A 500-foot-long Ground Mounted Noise Abatement Wall will be constructed along IL 56 from Gray Avenue to Bob O'Link Road. The proposed improvements will require modernization of existing traffic signals at the intersections of IL 56 / IL 53 and IL 56 / Lloyd Avenue as well as two interconnect systems to provide traffic flow progression. Lastly, a single-unit residence at the northwest corner of IL 53 and Arboretum Road will be demolished. Any and all incidental work necessary to complete the project.
