Demolition, site work and asbestos abatement for a residential development in Deerton, Michigan. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; for site work for a residential development; and for asbestos abatement for a residential development.
The Alger County Land Bank Authority (ACLBA) is hereby soliciting proposals from qualified vendors for the abatement and demolition of vacant residential and commercial properties located at E-1139 and E-1153 State Highway M-28 in Deerton, Michigan. The ACLBA is funding this project through the use of a Blight Elimination Grant from the Michigan State Land Bank Authority, and the project will be conducted in compliance with grant requirements, including reporting requirements. Pam Johnson, Alger County Treasurer and Chair of the County Land Bank Authority, is the primary point of contact for the project. Demolition includes all elements associated with the safe demolition of each structure, the basement, the footings, removal of building contents, exterior debris removal, and vegetation as necessary, as well as obtaining necessary permits. Demolition of the E-1139 M-28 property also includes the removal of an in-ground hydraulic hoist. The contractor will work with the ACLBA and its representatives to arrange for the termination of utilities. Any voids created through excavation will be backfilled with clean fill, compacted, and seeded with a native (non-invasive) seed mix for grass growth. Asbestos abatement at the E-1153 M-28 property is also a required scope of work. The selected contractor is required to have a Residential Builders License or a Maintenance and Alteration license with a house wrecking classification. Performance and Labor and Materials Payment Bonds are not required for this project. Questions regarding this RFP shall be submitted in writing by February 9, 2024, at 3 p.m., directed to Pam Johnson and submitted to both pjohnson@algercounty.gov and tsearles@fishbeck.com. Phone calls can be utilized for clarification, if necessary, prior to submitting an email. Responses will only be generated for questions received in writing. A written response to all questions asked will be provided to all responding bidders via email by end-of-day February 12, 2024. A formal bid walkthrough is not included in this proposal process.
