Site work for a water / sewer project in Green Valley, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Frederick County, Maryland invites proposals from qualified vendors for providing Samhill Estates SWM Pond Retrofit and Stream Restoration. The Samhill Estates Pond Retrofit and Stream Restoration project seeks to restore a degraded stream and retrofit an existing stormwater management pond within the Samhill Estates Community. This parcel is owned and maintained by the community Homeowners' Association. The project will include approximately 625 linear feet of stream restoration as well as excavating and regrading the existing pond's footprint to provide additional water quality volume. To provide better control of storm events, the existing CMP riser and barrel control structure will be replaced with a concrete weir wall structure. Proposed stream restoration practices will include bank stabilization, riparian reforestation, and in-stream grade control structures. This project is part of Frederick County's Capital Improvement Project and will help meet the watershed restoration and impervious area reduction requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. Special concern must be given to sediment control issues, due to the close proximity of the receiving streams. Stream restrictions dates must be honored, and all work performed with all local, State, and Federal applicable regulations and project permits. Trees and wildlife must be protected and conserved in the process of the work. Access to the projects is often through Contract under a Lump Sum contract with the Owner in accordance with the Conditions of Contract. private properties, which must be restored in a manner sensitive to the property residents. Handling of stormwater flows through the work areas must be considered. Pumping around the work areas must mitigate any sediment release and fish loss The Base Bid work of the SAM HILL ESTATES STORMWATER POND RETROFIT AND STREAM RESTORATION consists of the following: 1. BMP #52: The Sam Hill Estates Stormwater Pond and Stream Retrofit consist of replacing the existing C.M.P. riser structure with a cast-in-place weir wall. The existing facility will be dredged and regraded to meet water quality criteria for the drainage area to the maximum extent possible. The existing dam will also be modified in order to meet MD-378 criteria, by including a geosynthetic membrane. Additionally, the degraded channel directly upstream, flowing into the pond, will be restored. Shrubs and aquatic emergent plants will be installed to enhance aesthetics and water quality.
