As of March 20, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. Richneck Elementary School located at 205 Tyner Drive Newport News, Virginia 23608 hereafter referred to as the "Project" consists of constructing a one-story Vestibule addition totaling approximately 900 S.F., at main entrance of the existing Richneck Elementary School. Scope of Work: a) Construct one-story Vestibule addition totaling approx. 900 S.F., at main entrance. b) Construct interior alterations at the adjacent main entrance, Lobby, Corridor and Administrative Offices. Modify the existing exterior entrance canopy and sidewalk. c) Clearing and demolition at the existing entry canopy and adjacent yard d) Preparation of building pad, grading and drainage, and restoration of the site. e) New construction includes a steel-framed, brick and EIFS-clad structure with storefront windows and doors. f) Interior work alters existing load-bearing and non-load-bearing masonry walls and partitions, and provides lintels for new openings, fire-rated HM storefronts & glass. g) Interior demolition, provision of new interior wood casework, doors and frames, finishes, ceilings, plumbing, HVAC, lighting and electrical work. h) Removal and replacement of the school's main electrical distribution panel (MDP) at the Main Electrical Room. Each Bidder shall submit with its bid that is $100,000.00 or more, an original bid bond with original seal from a surety company selected by the Bidder that is authorized to do business in Virginia, or cashier's check, payable to Newport News Public Schools equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid price. The Bid Bond is a guarantee that if the contract is awarded to the Bidder, he will enter into the contract for the work mentioned in the bid.
