BACKGROUND Rockingham County is in the center of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains on the east and the Alleghenies on the west, the County is located along the Interstate 81 corridor and only a two-hour drive to Washington, DC. Rockingham County is the third largest county in Virginia and encompasses the Harrisonburg-Rockingham metropolitan area. The County has recently acquired the property located at Fulks Run (15962 Hopkins Gap Road, Fulks Run VA 22830) and Dayton (3049 John Wayland Hwy, Dayton VA 22821). The County plans to build an Emergency Response Station at both localities. It is expected that the construction will take place consecutively over the course of two years. Route 11 North Emergency Response Station is available for tours, on an appointment basis. The two emergency response stations will be similar in size,scope, and desired finishes as this station.
